Complete Shutdown POSH Arcadia Platform - Comprehensive Maintenance and Structural Recovery
- Client: POSH Arcadia
- Location: Angra dos Reis Port Terminal (TPAR) – Angra dos Reis, RJ
- Period: 2024 (50 days)
Category: OFFSHORE
The Engport Group was contracted by POSH to carry out the complete shutdown of the Arcadia platform during its maintenance stop at the Angra dos Reis Port Terminal. This project represented one of the most complex and comprehensive operations of 2024, mobilizing a multidisciplinary team of over 40 highly skilled professionals who worked continuously in 12-hour shifts for 50 days.
TECHNICAL CHALLENGE
The main technical challenge focused on lifting the platform’s thrusters – critical multi-ton equipment responsible for the dynamic positioning system. Lifting these components required rigorous load handling procedures, with zero margin for error.
ENGPORT ENGINEERING SOLUTION
- Our engineering team developed an optimized rigging procedure specifically for the Arcadia’s thrusters. Through detailed structural analysis, load simulations, and careful selection of lifting equipment, we implemented significant improvements in the traditional handling system, increasing operational safety and reducing execution time by approximately 30%.
SCOPE OF WORK
Thrusters Maintenance: - Lifting and safe removal of 6 propulsion units
- Complete disassembly for inspection
- Replacement of worn components
- Dynamic balancing and precision alignment
Access Infrastructure:
- Assembly of 300m² certified scaffolding
Working at Heights (IRATA):
- Anticorrosive treatment on lifeboat davits
- Fire line removal
- Corrosion point treatment in hard-to-reach areas
- Boilermaking and welding at heights
Surface Preparation:
- Complete scraping of the platform’s hull
ACHIEVED RESULTS
✅ Deadline: Project completed rigorously within the 50 days
✅ Safety: Zero accidents in 24,000 man-hours
✅ Quality: 100% of inspections approved on the first attempt
✅ Recognition: Formal letter of recommendation from the client
